Mom's Biscotti (twice baked cookies) 2 C sugar 1 C butter (melted) 1/4 tsp each anise seeds, anisette (or other anise flavored liquor) 3 T whiskey; or 2 t vanilla + 2 T water 6 eggs 1 T baking powder 5 1/2 C. all purpose flour (or WW pastry flour) 2 C coarsely chopped almonds or walnuts. Mix wet ingred. Mix dry ingred + nuts into wet. Refrigerate 2-3 hours. Shape into 1/2" thick x 2" wide loaves (at least 2, maybe more). Bake on greased sheet @ 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool. Cut into 1/2" thick pieces (they crumble easily: I used electric knife this time). Bake again, with cut side down, @ 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Cool & store air tight.
